It’s hard to put into words the terrifying events that occurred in Paris over the weekend. Here at the Retro Set our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to each and every man, woman, and child affected by the tragedy in France–as well as those affected by like tragedies all over the globe, be it Lebanon or Kenya.

And so, in honor of the grand old City of Light, whose luminaries will only burn brighter than ever in the wake of this tragedy and stand in symbolic solidarity for victims of terrorism all over the globe, we wish to take a moment and remember the many moments that Paris has been the inspirational muse to the art of cinema. Whether it’s to make us laugh, make us cry, make us gasp, or make us fall in love, Paris has been, and always will be, a place that incites the human imagination–embodying the collective fearlessness of our human spirit, and more to the point, the collective fearlessness of love.

In the words of Humphrey Bogart, we will always have Paris.
